DVD Review: ‘Good Dick’

good-dick-3

A few months ago, I named Good Dick one of my favorite films of 2008. I attended a screening back in October and had the chance to meet Marianna Palka and Jason Ritter afterwards. Marianna wrote, directed and starred in the film, along with Jason and they both produced it. You can see my review of the film right  HERE. You can also listen to my interview with Jason and Marianna  HERE.

A few weeks ago, the film went for sale online at the official Good Dick website. I received my copy in the mail a few days ago and finally had the chance to check it out. This is a special first edition copy that is only available for purchase on the website. As soon as you put the DVD in your player, you are greeted by Marianna and Jason in a short video introduction. After that, you are taken to a menu where you can choose to watch the film or some deleted scenes. The deleted scenes are a mix of cut scenes, alternate takes and extended scenes. If you enjoy the film, I recommend you check them out. There are some nice little moments buried in there, such as one character’s rental history love letter.

You can buy your copy at www.GoodDickTheFilm.com, which has recently been completely redone to include videos, links, a “sexy list† and more information about the film. Go check it out and buy a copy of this great film. It is being self-distributed so help support indie cinema and buy your copy. If you are more into freebies, we will be giving away 2 copies of the film + signed 11×17 posters to 2 lucky winners. The posters are currently signed by Jason Ritter and Marianna Palka but I may be meeting with Martin Starr this week to sign them as well. I will post the contest for that very soon.

Jerry Cavallaro – www.AreYouStuckLikeChuck.com

Born with a camera in hand, Jerry Cavallaro was destined to be a great filmmaker. Legend has it that he even filmed his own birth. He later went on to film the indie rom-com STUCK LIKE CHUCK, which is now available to watch for free on Amazon. Jerry brings his passion for movies, both behind the camera and in front of the screen, to every piece he writes for this site.
