MOOD INDIGO was nominated for three 2014 César Awards: Étienne Charry (Best Original Music), Florence Fontaine (Best Costume) and Stéphane Rozenbaum (Best Production Design).

Head over to SLATE where you can read their article about production designer Stéphane Rozenbaum’s work on the film:

“He won a 2014 César Award (the French equivalent of an Oscar) for his work on MOOD INDIGO and previously worked with Gondry on The Science of Sleep. Rozenbaum was interviewed via phone from the set of Gondry’s next film about creating the show-stealing designs for MOOD INDIGO. Rozenbaum also shared several personal photos that he took on the set during film production.”

Eminently inventive Michel Gondry finds inspiration from French novelist Boris Vian’s cult novel to provide the foundation for this visionary and romantic love story starring Audrey Tautou (Amélie, Coco Before Chanel) and Romain Duris (The Beat My Heart Skipped).

Set in a charmingly surreal Paris, Duris plays wealthy bachelor Colin, whose hobbies include developing his pianocktail (a cocktail-making piano) and devouring otherworldly dishes prepared by his trusty chef Nicolas (Omar Sy, The Intouchables). When Colin learns that his best friend Chick (Gad Elmaleh, The Valet), a fellow acolyte of the philosopher Jean-Sol Partre, has a new American girlfriend, our lonely hero attends a friend’s party in hopes of falling in love himself.

He soon meets Chloé (Audrey Tautou) and, before they know it, they’re dancing to Duke Ellington and plunging headfirst into a romance that Gondry rapturously depicts as only he can. Their whirlwind courtship is tested when an unusual illness plagues Chloe; a flower begins to grow in her lungs. To save her, Colin discovers the only cure is to surround Chloe with a never-ending supply of fresh flowers.

2nd Trailer for THE GREEN HORNET

Check out the brand new trailer for THE GREEN HORNET starring Seth Rogen, John Chou, Cameron Diaz, and Christoph Waltz.

Synopsis:

Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene — until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves — protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets. Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case, they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky. But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

Anvil Set to Explode in GREEN HORNET

anvil

The Canadian metal band, Anvil, has been waiting decades to explode, and, thanks to Michel Gondry and THE GREEN HORNET, they’ll get their chance to do just that.  An article in the LA Times about the documentary about the band, ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL, also makes mention the band has filmed a cameo for the Seth Rogen-starring superhero movie.  There is no mention who the band will be playing specifically, whether it be themselves or a made-up band for the film.  What the article does say, however, is that the band will (literally) explode during their cameo at a rock club.  Nothing like dying doing what you love, right?

While this news of Anvil’s cameo in THE GREEN HORNET was brought up as an aside in the article, the main focus is the fact that ANVIL! has become the first screener sent out to Academy Awards voters.  The film is available on DVD, and is deserving of any Oscar recommendations it can get.  It truly is a real life version of THIS IS SPINAL TAP.  You can check out Tom’s review of it right here, and you can order the DVD right here.

THE GREEN HORNET is set for release on December 22nd, 2010.

Christoph Waltz Steps In As ‘Green Hornet’ Villain

christoph waltz

“That’s a BINGO!”

For anyone who has seen ‘Inglourious Basterds,’ (or two or even three times by now) you know that one of the breakout stars of the film is German actor Christoph Waltz.   You just knew after his incomparable performance as the erratically villainous Hans Landa offers were going to spill in left and right.   Add to this Nicolas Cage backing out of the villain role in ‘The Green Hornet,’ and you’ve got a marriage of ideas that spells brilliance.

According to Nikki Finke, Waltz has been cast as the villain in the Michel Gondry-directed ‘Green Hornet’ project.   Oddly enough, Waltz’s name was one of a few mentioned in this fantasy cast article over at AICN last week.

If all goes according to plan, we should be seeing Waltz turn in yet another superb and sinister performance when ‘The Green Hornet’ gets released on December 17th, 2010.

‘Green Hornet’ Set Pics Including First Shot of Kato

‘The Green Hornet’ has begun production, and you just knew it wouldn’t be very long before set pics started to roll in.  Today, we offer you the first looks from the set of the film courtesy of Splash News.  It seems most of the major players are already filming scenes, as we have shots of not only Jay Chou as Kato, but Seth Rogen as Britt Reid and Cameron Diaz as Lenore Case.

Special thanks to Super Hero Hype for the heads up.

Of course, it still remains to be seen exactly what kind of movie this is.  Judging from that last shot, with Rogen seemingly crying like a little girl and shying away from cameras, it seems like it’s going to be more the comedy.  However, being a film based on a comic book, there is surely to be some high adventure.

We’ll all find out on December 17th, 2010 when the film sees release.
