The Rock Sinks to ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’

UPDATE

This rumor has already been shot down. Â  Sci-fi Wire caught up with McG and asked him about the news that Rock had been cast as Nemo, and the director emphatically denied it.

McG: I’ve never spoken to Dwayne Johnson about this. I like him. He’s great. He’s a wonderful human being and an excellent screen presence, but we have not spoken about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Not a word.

So, there. Â  We bring you false news and rumors. Â  Back to your Monday.

If you’re going to have a director like McG helm a spinoff/prequel/sequel/other entry into an already established franchise, it’s a pretty good idea to get someone with some edge to them to carry the star power. Â  Putting Christian Bale in the John Connor role of ‘Terminator Salvation’ has done wonders to what could be a slow build to an epic trainwreck.

Disney, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to care about how their films are viewed. Â  Case in point. Â  The Rock has evidently been cast in McG’s reworking of ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ subtitled ‘Captain Nemo.’ Â  This news comes only a few months after McG stated he wanted Will Smith for the part of a young Nemo.

Formerly titles ‘Nemo,’ the new film would serve as a prequel, showing us the adventures of the young Captian Nemo and his acquiring of the Nautilus.

What do you think? Â  Is Dwayne “Rock” Johnson the right choice for Nemo? Â  Is it a better choice than Will Smith? Â  Does this news make you somewhat nervous to see what McG put together for his ‘Terminator’ movie? Â  Let us know by commenting below!

The Govern-ator Confirms Appearance in ‘Terminator Salvation’… Sort Of.

terminator1

Rumors have been flying around for months regarding the “will-he-or-won’t-he” status of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s role in the highly anticipated Terminator Salvation. In recent weeks, updates have been given via both Arnold’s and director McG’s Twitter, foreshadowing various stages of commitment– but were ultimately inconclusive.

Well, long story short, Variety announced this morning that the main reason for all the ambiguity in regards to this issue was that no one was certain whether or not a CGI image of the iconoic Governator would be convincing enough to actually be a part of the movie. However, recent reports are claiming that Schwartzenegger has given his official and final consent for his likeness to be used, supporting the idea that by the grace of movie magic itself, they’ve found a way.

Will it be even mildly realistic? Will it even fit with the storyline the producers have been keeping so top secret? Who knows. What we do know is that the CGI Schwarzenegger will be restored in all of his 1984 cyborg glory, and will most likely deliver one, if not more, of those iconoic lines we’ve all been waiting for. Hey, he said he’d be back. And if he reneged on his word, what kind of terminator would he be? Not a good one, people. Not a good one.

The Sarah Connor Society has unveiled these beautiful pieces of concept art from ‘Terminator Salvation.’ Â  Not sure what Project Angel is or if it has anything to do with the film’s storyline. Â  These images were crafted by visual effects director Warren Fu and ILM artist Christian Alzmann, and they are things of beauty.

Either Warner Brothers is just doing a helacious job marketing this movie, or it truly is going to be one of the best films of the year. Â  I never would have thought a year ago I would be sitting here describing how McG’s ‘Terminator Salvation’ was my most anticipated film of the Summer, but that has grown to be the case.

I guess we’ll all find out when the film hits on May 21st.

New ‘Terminator Salvation’ Poster Unveiled

terminator-salvation7

Despite it’s eventual PG-13 rating, I am still uber-psyched for ‘Terminator Salvation.’   It just looks so dark, and it fits into the nice, rare case where you have yourself both a sequel and a prequel to the franchise.   I’m really curious to see where the story goes in this film.   Plus, can you really do wrong with Christian Bale nowadays?   I think not.

I’m also glad to see Sam Worthington get billing right alongside Bale.   This give me hope that the Marcus Wright subplot is going to be the driving force behind the movie.   Great stuff.

Today, we bring you the latest poster.   If you read between the lines, you can kind of see a hint at the film’s original ending in the image you see above.   Take that for what it’s worth.

Also, if you check out IMDB’s page on the film, you notice that it has a current running time of 130 minutes.   Now, that is a perfect length for a Summer blockbuster.   None of this less-than-two-hours of geeky fun bullshit like we’re gonna get with ‘Wolverine.’

‘Terminator Salvation’ comes out on May 21st.

Pizza Hut/’Terminator Salvation’ Website Reveals Much

That above screenshot of the Pizza Hut/’Terminator Salvation’ crossover promotional website reveals quite a bit about the film, doesn’t it?   Don’t see it?   Take a closer look.

Here:

Still not seeing what I’m seeing? How about now?

terminator-pg-13-1

That’s right, folks.   I guess ‘Terminator Salvation’ is officially the same rating as ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.’   We have speculated for months whether McG’s new ‘Terminator’ would be getting the PG-13 treatment or if Warner would actually have some balls when it came to this film.   I guess commercialism won out, and it takes Pizza Hut to finally tell us the truth.

Regardless, the trailer for ‘Terminator Salvation’ is such that I am still excited for the film.   Even though it’s not going to be a hard R, as we would all like in our ‘Terminator’ film, it still looks like it is going to be dark and serious.   It just would be nice to know there were no limits to the film.

Ending to ‘Terminator Salvation’ Changed Due to Internet Leak

terminator-salvation3

After watching the newest trailer for ‘Terminator Salvation’ for about the 18th time, I recalled that the ending for the film had been leaked online (AICN to be precise) at some point last year. Â  It came to me like a rejected memory, something from my childhood that I wanted to forget but could never do. Â  I didn’t mind the ending they had planned, and, in fact, it went along pretty nicely with the dark tone the trailer was leading me to believe the film had taken.

Well, that was then. Â  This is now. Â  Because of that leak last year, Warner Bros. decided to pull a little switcheroo and has opted for a different ending altogether. Â  A source from WB revealed this on Saturday to Clint over at Moviehole. Â  The source claims to have seen the film and that there had been some big changes to the film over the past few months.

“The ending doesn’t resemble the previous one in any shape or form.”

Clint says that, strangely enough, it was Seth Rogen who made mention to him before anyone else that WB was planning a change and that they were “as red as Daredevil” about the original ending being leaked. Â  The new ending, according to the WB source, is “A complete [180] from the original film. Works better. Probably not as hard to swallow. Real good though.”

We will all find out what this new ending is come May 21st when ‘Terminator Salvation’ comes out.

New ‘Terminator Salvation’ Poster

The day is fast approaching when we will finally see if McG can pull off a successful ‘Terminator’ film.   The more I see the latest trailer (the one with Nine Inch Nails’ “The Day the World Went Away”) the more excited I get.   It’s probably the best trailer I’ve seen all year, and it makes the film seem like it is going to be extremely dark.

Check out the newest poster released for the film above along with the latest tagline “We Fight Back”. Â  It comes to us courtesy of IGN.

‘Terminator Salvation’ comes out on May 21st.

New ‘Terminator Salvation’ Posters and Pics

terminator-banner

Yahoo! Movies debuted a couple of new posters and a nice sized gallery of new images from ‘Terminator Salvation’.   I think I’m beginning to have the same feeling about this film as I did ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’.   At first, when I first heard there was another ‘Terminator’ film coming out, I was reluctant to jump on board.   Then I started to see images and clips from the film, and my appetite for it grew.

I am officially excited to see ‘Terminator: Salvation’.   I still hold out a little hope for the mere fact that McG is behind the camera on this one, but he could prove me wrong.   I look forward to him doing just that.

Check out the pics and the latest poster:

That last pic from the movie is creepy as hell.   I’m really excited to see the early stages of the robots.

Yahoo! Movies will also debut the new trailer for ‘Terminator Salvation’ today at 4PM.   If you really wanna wait to see it on the big screen, you’ll get your chance this Friday in front of ‘Watchmen’.

Linda Hamilton in Negotations for ‘Terminator: Salvation’

linda-hamilton-terminator

I don’t know what is more shocking/amazing about this bit of news, the fact that Linda Hamilton is talking about reprising her Sarah Connor role in the ‘Terminator’ series or the fact that ‘Terminator: Salvation’ is still casting people.   Regardless, the woman who made Sarah Connor such a badass is in negotiations to return.   In an interview with MTV, she revealed as such.

“We are talking,† Hamilton told MTV. “I haven’t read it yet. I don’t know what direction they will go in.†

She does know, however, what he part will be in the film.

“My contribution would be voiceover,† she said. “I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is. Wait and see. They’re already writing it. We’ve been negotiating it.†

In the interview, Hamilton also talked about hers as well as James Cameron involvement (or lack, thereof) in ‘Terminator 3’.

“They offered me a part,† she said. “I read it and I knew my character arc was so complete in the first two, and in the third one it was a negligible character. She died halfway through and there was no time to mourn her. It was kind of disposable, so I said no thank you.†

“I think [director] Jim [Cameron] was pretty clearly not going to be involved with the third one,† she continued. “His partner had sold the rights to the third one. Then they came back to Jim, but it was so far along after the fact that he’d moved on. And I wouldn’t be involved with it if it weren’t Jim Cameron. The third one was all right but it just didn’t have the heat and excitement that Jim can bring.†

So, what do you think?   Happy Linda Hamilton will be returning to the ‘Terminator’ franchise?   Wish she had some kind of bigger part than just doing a voiceover?   Could Linda Hamilton kick Lena Heady’s ass?   Let us know by commenting below!

McG to direct ‘Dead Spy Running’

mcg2

Warner Bros has a new spy movie on the way and will be directed by McG. The movie is ‘Dead Spy Running’ and will be adapted by screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (Havoc) from the espionage novel from author Jon Stock.

…the film is meant to be the first in a trilogy and aims to reinvent the spy genre by telling the origin story of a newly trained spy in a tone that mixes the grittiness of “The Bourne Identity” with the wittiness of John Le Carre’s oeuvre. — HR

The book itself isn’t set to be published until June. From what I’ve read about the story, it seems like the movie will be part Jason Bourne and part James Bond, but that’s just my initial impression.
