KNIGHT AND DAY Set To Open Two Days Earlier On June 23rd

Looks like the July 4th movie weekend will be a crowded one. Pamela McClintock over at Variety is reporting 20th Century Fox has bumped up the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz action -comedy KNIGHT AND DAY, by two days. The film will now open on Wednesday, June 23rd.  The only other big release that weekend will be Sony’s comedy “Grown Ups” on June 25.

“It gives us a little bit of a jump on the weekend and the opportunity to get word-of-mouth going,” Fox domestic distribution president Bruce Snyder said Monday. “We want to let people know how wonderful this picture is.”

This all stems from positive early screenings of KNIGHT AND DAY and gives the studio a little jump at the box office considering the two big tentpole films on the horizon. It gives the film a full week in the theaters before Summit releases it’s next TWILIGHT film ECLIPSE on June 30th followed two days later by Paramount’s THE LAST AIRBENDER.

Co-starring Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace, Marc Blucas, KNIGHT AND DAY comes from 20th Century Fox and will bolt into theatres on June 23rd. Check out Twitter and Facebook for the latest on the film.

“Someday” – The Catchy KNIGHT AND DAY Theme Song & New Trailer

On May 28th, Will.i.am and Tom Cruise announced that the Black Eyed Peas have written a special song titled “Someday” for the upcoming movie KNIGHT AND DAY. Cruise said:

“It’s just a perfect match, the perfect film for it…the music is incredible. … You feel incredible at the end.”

The Peas debuted their snappy new song during the Black Eyed Peas after party last night in London for their fans.

From director James Mangold (WALK THE LINE, 3:10 TO YUMA ), the film is an action-comedy centered on a fugitive couple (Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz) on a glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no one – even themselves – are what they seem. Amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals, they race across the globe, with their survival ultimately hinging on the battle of truth vs. trust.

On Monday, Melissa Molina over at KillerFilm pointed us (via ComingSoon) in the direction to this new, high-octane trailer.

Co-starring Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace, Marc Blucas, KNIGHT AND DAY comes from 20th Century Fox and will bolt into theatres on June 25th. Check out Twitter and Facebook for the latest on the film.

KNIGHT AND DAY Trailer Brings Out the Big Guns

Said “big guns” being Cruise and Diaz, not the Uzis Cruise’s super spy is wielding to take out the bad guys, although those are pretty friggin’ big, too.   Courtesy of   E! Online, the trailer for KNIGHT AND DAY has been released today, and it offers up just about everything you would want in a film about Tom Cruise playing a spy who pulls Cameron Diaz’s mild-mannered woman into the adventure of her life.   Lots of quips.   Lots of goofy comedy.   Lots of bad guys getting shot.   It’s all fun and games thanks to director James Mangold.   Hell, there’s even a little Sarsgaard thrown in for good measure.

But don’t take my word for it.   See for yourself:

KNIGHT AND DAY hits theaters July 2nd, 2010.

KNIGHT AND DAY Poster is Bond-errific

The flashy  silhouettes  of a dashing man and a sexy woman.  The stylish pistol the man holds as he runs from…something.  The splotches of strange color against the backdrop indicating things are about to get bloody (for someone who bleeds yellow).  Just about everything on this poster (save for Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz’s names) cries out Bond.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing.  It’s a cool poster we have above for KNIGHT AND DAY, a film with a title that could almost pass as a Bond title, as well.

Nonetheless, the film is directed by James Mangold (GIRL, INTERRUPTED, WALK THE LINE, and 3:10 TO YUMA) and also features Peter Sarsgaard.  I hope beyond hope that Sarsgaard plays the film’s villain.

The film’s official site is also live, and we are sure to have a trailer hitting very soon.  KNIGHT AND DAY hits theaters on July 2nd, 2010.
