Why was there a run on plastic spoons at St. Louis-area grocery stores this weekend? Because Tommy was in town!
Why were there thousands of plastic spoons flying through the air in the Tivoli’s main screen over the weekend? Because Tommy was in town!
Why were grown men in tuxedos throwing a football from three feet away in the Tivoli’s lobby? Because Tommy was in town!
Who was that strange man with the sunglasses, odd accent and black stringy hair that everyone was crowded around? Why that was none other than Tommy Wiseau of course, the amazing triple-threat talent writer/director/star of THE ROOM and he was in St. Louis over the weekend for midnight screenings Friday and Saturday nights. Both shows were sell-outs at $15 a seat and the line to meet and greet Tommy extended far down Delmar. Tommy was selling THE ROOM T-shirts, DVD’s, Johnny Bobble-head dolls, posters, and plush Dogeee toys. They were most reasonably priced and came with autographs so it’s not surprising that everyone wanted something. The star didn’t want anyone missing out so they accommodated the entire line, which pushed the event back far past midnight, but everyone was having such fun and no one seemed to mind that the film didn’t start until 1:30am. Before the screening, there was a Q&A moderated by Tom Stockman (aka: Me) featuring questions from audience members who lined up at the microphone. Nobody kept their stupid comments in their pocket! Most of Tommy’s answers to their questions were ridiculous but then, this is Tommy Wiseau we’re talking about. He’s a clueless genius and that was proven with a pre-show that featured a screening of the pilot episode of Neighbors, his cable show. Neighbors was supposed to be funny, but was so not funny that it became funny. Does that make any sense?
Here’s a trailer for Neighbors:
And here are some pics from this weekend’s festivities:
Zachary Quinto stars as the mysterious and deadly John Smith in the latest featurette for HITMAN: AGENT 47.

His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own.
Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
The film, from director Aleksander Bach, stars Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds and Thomas Kretschmann.
COP CAR star Kevin Bacon has a bone to pick with you, Hollywood. Male actors are rarely given the opportunity to be gratuitously naked, and it’s not fair.
But that’s all going to change now with the #FreeTheBacon movement.
Find out how you can help in this funny video and join the movement.

Directed by Rice and co-written by Rice and John Nodilo, UNSULLIED is a suspense thriller that follows Reagan, a track star, who is kidnapped by a pair of sociopaths after her car breaks down on a deserted road.
Trapped and afraid, Reagan soon realizes her captors love the thrill of “the hunt,” and she is the hunted. Reagan must use her wits and physical prowess to escape her tormentors and find her way to freedom, while putting together the pieces of a horrifying puzzle.
“UNSULLIED is a modern suspense thriller. I based it on the films I like – hoping to evoke some of the cult classics of times gone by,” said Rice. “UNSULLIED looks at life off the grid in a world controlled by money and greed and an insatiable thirst to catch the ultimate prey –human beings. Its story is a very dangerous game of kill or be killed, and I hope this action packed drama, with its cast of exciting new talents, captures the audience and leaves them wanting more.”
From Lambert Releasing, the film will open theatrically nationwide on August 28, 2015.

SINISTER 2 is the chilling sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity. The new story is a scary, suspenseful race against time to save a family from falling prey to the madness, movies, and murder conjured by Bughuul and his foot soldiers, the ghost kids.
9-year-old twins Dylan and Zach Collins (portrayed by real-life brothers Robert and Dartanian Sloan) have been spirited away by their mother Courtney (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) to a rural house in Illinois.
The home and property are just isolated enough to evade Courtney’s estranged husband Clint (Lea Coco), who has abused her and Dylan. This protective mother is unaware that the house itself is marked for death…
…but Ex-Deputy So & So (James Ransone, reprising his “Sinister” role), now a private investigator, has deduced that the family’s hideout is the next manifestation spot for Bughuul. Determined to avenge the tragedy he was privy to while on the police force, So & So journeys to the rural residence, intending to burn it to the ground and thereby end Bughuul’s chain of death.
Finding Courtney and the twins there, he realizes that they are in danger from Clint and that he must step in to help them before he can implement a plan of attack against Bughuul.
What neither Courtney nor So & So are aware of is how the ghost kids have already been unsettling Dylan with their disturbing “home movies,” each more sinister than the last…
SINISTER 2opens nationally from Gramercy Pictureson Friday, August 21, 2015.

Check out the clever video below and see NASA’s declassified look at the psychological testing involved to see if they have the “right stuff” and to prepare the ARES 3 crew for their journey to Mars.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet.
With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.
Produced by Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer, Aditya Sood, Mark Huffam, the screenplay is by Drew Goddard. Check out the later trailer HERE.

Universal Pictures has released a new featurette, clip and photos for F. Gary Gray’s STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON.
Taking us back to where it all began, the film tells the true story of how these cultural rebels – armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent – stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A.
Come back later this week for my look at Sunday’s Hollywood press conference and hear what O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Ice Cube and F. Gary Gray had to say about the film.
The STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON behind-the-scenes creative team is led by director of photography Matthew Libatique (Black Swan, Iron Man 2), production designer Shane Valentino (Beginners, HBO’s The Normal Heart), editor Billy Fox (Hustle & Flow, Four Brothers), and costume designer Kelli Jones (TV’s Sons of Anarchy, Homefront).
The score is from composer Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, The Raid 2).
(L to R) Producer DR. DRE, director/producer F. GARY GRAY and producer ICE CUBE
As with any movie so deeply rooted in sound, the filmmakers were faced with weighing their options when attempting to accurately capture the music. For director Gray and the other producers, it was perhaps even more difficult when it came to winnowing down the selections and capturing the singular sound of the N.W.A catalogue.
Ultimately, they wanted to celebrate the radical music of N.W.A, and in doing so it was essential that they nail the original tracks as realistically as possible. Would the actors who best fit the roles creatively have the musical chops to sound like the group?
Would music supervisor Jojo Villanueva (American Reunion, Black or White), along with music producer Harvey Mason, Jr. (The Help, Dreamgirls) need to digitally enhance cast vocals, or would the actors be able to perform and record their own vocals and lay them over the original tracks?
N.W.A’s vocals are all unique, and of course none of the team wanted to diminish their essence.
Early on, Villanueva and Mason ascertained that most of the cast, with some vocal coaching, would be able to pull off the demands of re-creating the majority of the “Straight Outta Compton” album, as well as music from Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre’s solo recordings. In some instances cast vocals would be blended with the real vocals to create a balanced hybrid.
Compton: A Soundtrack will be released on August 7th only on iTunes and Apple Music.
