Mark Millar to pen ‘Superman’ reboot trilogy?

Mark Millar is apparently working on a new trilogy reboot of the Superman franchise for Warners.   It would be a restart, a la ‘Batman Begins’, and try and create a viable franchise again out of the most popular comic book hero of all time.   Millar is apparently already working with a big time director and the project could be shooting by next year, Summer.   We will see if it all pans out and check out what he has to say about a couple other projects as well in the video above.   Thanks to G4 for this!

‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Debuts October 3rd!

A lot of people undeservedly dumped on this fun little piece of Star Wars lore which was introduced to us a few weeks back as a feature film, but I was impressed, and can’t wait for the show.   The show I think will excel even further than the film and should be full of plenty of action and Star Wars stories.   Anyways, this will air originally on Cartoon Network and then re-air on TNT at a later date, and in glorious HD as well!   Keep an eye out for this, even if you were down on the movie, as I think the series will still suprise you!   Tune in October 3rd!   All details here.

Clooney is set to join the airline travel dramedy which follows the exploits of a man who sets out to reach a million frequent flyer miles which simultaneously brings his life into ruin.   Reitman adapted the screenplay and hopes to direct as his follow up to Juno.   Could be a winner, sounds good to me though.   Variety has all the details here.

Actual Real Batman News!

So all of these stupid casting rumors and thoughts and wishful thinkings just needs to stop around the Internets. It’s a bunch of fanboy concoctions that have no basis or validity or source to anything. Like I could say, ‘Photo Realistic Digital Version of Heath Ledger to Reprise Role of Joker in Batman 3 voiced by Mark Hamill!’ and some idiot is going to pick it up as fact, run with it, and say, “it’s on the Internet it must be true.’ Well it’s not, and to be frank, there is no Batman news, there isn’t even a director or star attached right now. In fact there is a chance that the next Batman might be without both Nolan and Bale for all we know. But we don’t know, we don’t know anything we hope they come back, and with the amount of money The Dark Knight is making the execs should easily be able to write checks to lure everyone back.

But let us get to some real news in that Ign is reporting that there is an offer out to Nolan for the next film but he is yet to decide what to do next. As for the direction of the film, ‘We have no idea where Chris is going with this… We haven’t had any conversations with him about it.’ In fact, he will probably direct something else in between before he even steps back into the world of Batman if he does it.

To be quite honest, my opinion on the matter is there is no reason to make another one outside the money. You won’t top The Dark Knight story, and the number of “realistic” villains in Batman has kind of been exhausted already. And why not go out on a high note. But if they do another, I hope it is Nolan and Bale who continue to give us the Bat-Man.

So there you have it, the news on Batman is that there is no news. No let’s see if we can wait and report something once there is actually something worth reporting.

Radiohead to score Chuck Palahniuk’s ‘Choke’ Adaptation!

Choke is one of my most anticipated films of the year, as it is one of my favorite books.   Sam Rockwell stars as a sex addict who chokes on food on purpose to get sympathy money to help pay for his mother’s hospital bills; the film only gets crazier from there.   But, even cooler news is that Radiohead is going to score the entire film!   Head over to Pitch Fork for more.

“Despite reports to the contrary this morning, Radiohead are not, and will not, be scoring the new Chuck Palahniuk movie, Choke.

According to The Playlist, which contacted music supervisors for the project, Radiohead haven’t even recorded a new song for the film. Instead, the closing credits are going to utilize “Reckoner† from In Rainbows.

The confusion came from a quote to BBC by Palahniuk, who apparently misspoke, saying “So Clark got Radiohead to contribute a song; to write a song for the very end of the movie, the final credits.†

Either Palahniuk misunderstood, or he’s never heard In Rainbows.

The soundtrack is due out digitally on September 23, and it features contributions from the likes of the Twilight Singers, Ben Kweller, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Fiery Furnaces, and Rogue Wave.”

George Clooney sets up ‘The Challenge’

Clooney has bought the rights to the title novel that follows the efforts of Charles Swift, who fought for a fair trial for the driver of Osama bin Laden. Clooney could potentially star, write, direct or some combination of the three. The film would revolve around the personal drama and courtroom struggles of Swift who sacrificed a lot defending someone nobody really cared to be defended. Get full details at Variety.
