Look Up! James Gunn’s SUPERMAN Gets A First Poster and Teaser & Listen To John Murphy’s “Theme From Superman” – Trailer Arrives On Thursday!
The first trailer for James Gunn’s SUPERMAN film debuts this Thursday. On Monday, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios released the first poster and a quick teaser for the film. SUPERMAN flies into theaters on July 11.
Bravo to the first look and such a great nod to the OG, SUPERMAN THE MOVIE. The movie was released on December 15, 1978 and starred Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder and Marlon Brando. Considered by some to be the greatest superhero film, director Richard Donner’s origin story made you believe a man could fly. Warner Bros. Studios had huge billboards of Reeve in Southern California prior to the movie’s release. SUPERMAN THE MOVIE included such lines as “Truth, Justice and The American Way” and took in $300,478,449 worldwide, with $134,478,449 in the United States and Canada and $166,000,000 internationally. When adjusted for inflation, the film’s total is estimated to be $1.4 billion, making it the highest-grossing Superman film.
The iconic score was from composer John Williams.
Starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. and Christopher Reeve’s son, Will Reeve, as a TV reporter, the SUPERMAN score is from composer John Murphy.
