Must-See! New Posters Are Here For THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER – In Theaters October 13
Alright horror fans… Universal and Blumhouse released on Thursday three brand new posters for their upcoming movie THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER.
Looking very much like Regan from the original movie, the sequel will hit theaters on October 13. The 1973 film (directed by William Friedkin and written by William Peter Blatty) is about a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious demonic entity, forcing her mother to seek the help of two priests to save her.
THE EXORCIST won two Oscars for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium – William Peter Blatty and Best Sound – Christopher Newman, Robert Knudson. It went onto have a worldwide box office gross of $441,306,145 (Box Office Mojo) with only a $11 million budget. It starred Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair.
David Gordon Green (HALLOWEEN 2018) directs the new film, and is produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson and James G. Robinson.
As reported by Collider in July 2021:
The New York Times broke the news, reporting that Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role from William Friedkin‘s original 1973 classic, and she’ll be joined by Leslie Odom Jr., the Tony-winning Hamilton star who recently earned two Oscar nominations for One Night in Miami — one for his supporting turn as Sam Cooke, and another for original song.
Jason Blum will produce alongside James Robinson and David Robinson of Morgan Creek, which holds the rights to the Exorcist franchise. The Times reported that Universal and Peacock have acquired the trilogy in a mega-deal worth more than $400 million, with the first film expected to hit theaters on Oct. 13, 2023 — a year after Green’s final Halloween movie. Meanwhile, the second and third Exorcist films could wind up debuting on Peacock under the terms of the deal.
The movie also features Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, Norbert Leo Butz and Okwui Okpokwasili.
