THE MACHINE is directed by Peter Atencio, with a screenplay by Kevin Biegel and Scotty Landes.

While serving as the director and executive producer of the hit sketch comedy tv series Key & Peele, Atencio was nominated for three prime-time Emmy awards, winning one for Best Variety Sketch series in 2016. He was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and won a Peabody Award and an American Comedy Award for best TV director for his work on the show.

After ending the series, Atencio transitioned with stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele to the world of feature films with 2016’s KEANU, an action comedy for Warner Bros. Next, he directed the Amazon Studios original series Jean-Claude Van Johnson, along with fellow executive producers Ridley Scott and creator Dave Callaham. He then transitioned to international television work, relocating to Prague to direct and showrun the action drama Whiskey Cavalier for Bill Lawrence’s Doozer Productions and Warner Bros. television. The show aired on ABC in the United States and internationally in over 60 countries. Atencio also directed an episode of Jordan’s Peele’s The Twilight Zone for CBS / Paramount Plus starring Ethan Embry and Billy Porter entitled “The Who of You.”

This film is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for the following reasons: strong violence, pervasive language, drug use and some sexual references.
