Joachim Trier’s Award-Winning THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD Will Join the Criterion Collection After Its Theatrical Run Beginning February 4th

NEON announces the addition of Joachim Trier’s award-winning THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD to The Criterion Collection. The film was recently awarded Best Foreign Language Film by NYFCC and previously won the Best Actress Award at Cannes.  The Worst Person in the World is the official Oscar submission for Norway for Best International Film at this year’s Academy Awards. NEON will release the film theatrically on February 4, 2022. 

Director Joachim Trier returns with another modern twist on a classically constructed character portrait of contemporary life in Oslo. Chronicling four years in the life of Julie, THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD examines one woman’s quest for love and meaning in the modern world. Fluidly told in twelve chapters, the film features a breakout performance by Cannes Best Actress winner Renate Reinsve as she explores new professional avenues and embarks on relationships with two very different men (Anders Danielsen Lie and Herbert Nordrum) in her search for happiness and identity.

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD  is directed by Joachim Trier, co-written by Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier and produced by Thomas Robsahm and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar. It features standout performances by Renate Reinsve, Anders Danielsen Lie and Herbert Nordrum.
