QUARANTINE CAT FILM FESTIVAL Coming June 19th to Virtual Cinemas
This looks sooooo cute!:
For nearly two months, movie theaters worldwide have been shut down due to the pandemic. But cats are coming to help save the day for independent cinemas. Not those “cats” … real cats, owned by real movie lovers, who will star in the first-ever (and hopefully last-ever) QUARANTINE CAT FILM FEST. It debuts only in virtual cinemas in the U.S. and Canada on June 19.
Although this all-new feature-length presentation will be viewed at home, ticket sales will directly benefit local independent cinemas, with some 100 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada expected to participate. Moreover, cat-loving movie fans are asked to participate by sending in their own cat videos for possible inclusion in the QUARANTINE CAT FILM FEST.
This “virtual cinema” presentation is the brainchild of Brian and Irwin Mendelssohn, owners of Row House Cinema in Pittsburgh. Movie lovers will be able to log on to their participating theater website or to Row House Online and purchase a ticket. Once purchased, they can watch the feature-length feline festivities on their computer or mobile device, or on many Smart TVs and streaming devices they can “cast” it to their own television. About 50% of each ticket will go directly to a local theater, offering much-needed revenue during the closure.
