” I always was a rebel… but on the other hand, I wanted to be loved and accepted by all facets of society and not be this loud-mouthed lunatic, poet, musician. But I cannot be what I’m not.”

IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON is a cinema collage of color, sound, dream and reality, featuring numerous guest stars including George Harrison, Fred Astaire, Andy Warhol, Dick Cavett, Jack Palance and Jonas Mekas. The ground-breaking film is widely regarded as one of the first ‘video albums’, featuring as it does a distinct visual treatment for every song on the album. Presented on the anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in rock and roll history, the screenings are being sponsored by Karl & Beckie Heinz. Admission is $7 and tickets are available online and at the door.
Created at the instigation of Yoko Ono — out of hundreds of hours of film and videotape footage, photographs and recorded conversations, IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON uses Lennon’s own recorded voice to guide us through the artist’s life, jumping backward and forward in time to cover his days as a Liverpool tyke, and later a Mersey tough; through his early days in Hamburg; through the Beatlemania years, the studio years and the breakup years.
