A NEW LEAF: REIMAGINING HENRY SHAW’S MUSEUM Screens Saturday – ST. LOUIS FILMMAKERS SHOWCASE

The 19th Annual Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, a presentation of the nonprofit Cinema St. Louis, serves as the area’s primary venue for films made by local artists. The Showcase screens works that were written, directed, edited, or produced by St. Louis residents or films with strong local ties.  The festival continues Saturday July 20th with  A NEW LEAF: REIMAGINING HENRY SHAW’S MUSEUM at 1:30pm. After more than a century of decline, Henry Shaws museum is once again open to the public at the Missouri Botanical Garden (MoBOT) following a multi-million-dollar restoration. A New Leaf: Reimagining Henry Shaws Museum chronicles the painstaking effort to bring Shaws museum back to its original glory  a process that led to the discovery of treasures no one knew existed. In telling the story of the museums restoration, the film also explores the history of MoBOT, showing how it evolved into one of the finest botanical gardens in the world.
