SHREK Screens Midnights This Weekend at The Tivoli (and Saturday at Noon)

SHREK (2001) plays this weekend (April 19th and 20th) at the Tivoli (6350 Delmar Boulevard)as part of their Reel Late at the Tivoli Midnight series.It also screens Saturday 4/20 at noon.

Happy 4/20! Taking a Fractured Fairy Tale approach to a “Beauty And The Beast”-type plot, throwing in a few mild profanities, flatulence jokes, and Michael Myers’ over-the-top faux-Scots accent, SHREK shows off a very snarky humor, full of jokes that likely went over the heads of its target audience back in ’01 while registering with their parents. “Sure it’s big enough, but look at the location,” Shrek observes upon seeing a giant castle in the middle of nowhere. I have a feeling folks who see it at the Tivoli midnights this weekend will love it! Shrek is Love!
