Understated and reliable German star Nina Hoss (Phoenix, A Most Wanted Man) stars as Dr. Barbara Wolff, who in 1980s East Germany finds herself transferred from a good post in Berlin to a less-desirable position in a rural area, all because she applied for an exit visa to go to the West. At her country pediatric facility she has to navigate new co-workers, any/all of whom may be on her side or may be Stasi informants.
