GREASE Was The Word At The Hollywood Bowl
On Saturday night, WAMG attended the Grease 40th Anniversary Sing-a-long with 17,000 of our fellow Pink Ladies and T-Birds at The Hollywood Bowl. Fans came out in force to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved iconic big-screen musical from 1978 and they came ready to sing!
The show kicked off with oldies band Sha Na Na, also known as “Johnny Casino and The Gamblers” in the film. Also in attendance was actress Didi Conn, aka Frenchie! Conn took the stage in her best “pink lady” suit and reminisced about being in the film. She also instructed the audience on how/when to use the “props” left on our seats for the audience-participation portions of the movie. So much fun!
Even at 40, the film still holds up as a classic and the crowd could not have been more energetic, cheering for our hand-jiving guys and gals and even booing and hissing at those pesky Scorpions and everyone’s favorite bad-girl Cha Cha DiGregorio (you know, the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s – with the worst reputation!).
And who knew the Bowl was such a great place to see a movie? Known more for its live concerts, nostalgia ruled the night as the big screen and warm summer air made it feel like we were at the drive-in back in the day.
Fans of HARRY POTTER can catch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ in Concert on July 5 at the Hollywood Bowl! http://bit.ly/2JXR21W
