A Benefit Preview of “Living in Tents” will take place Thursday, February 22nd at 7pm at The Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, 63130). This is an event to benefit the non-profit ‘All Among Us’. There’s a suggested donations of items for the homeless (ie: socks, shoes, hand warmers). The is a FREE event, but RSVPs ar required and can be made HERE. There will be an introduction to the screening by director Paul Crane and a reception will follow at the Moonrise Hotel’s The Twilight Room.

Paul Crane’s compelling documentary follows five homeless residents of “tent city” (Wulf, Bonnie, Dave, Jeff and Blake) as they struggle to survive in tents under harsh conditions, and the five independent volunteers (Eric, Catherine, Mark and Stephanie) whose lives change as they become deeply involved helping the homeless residents

In January 2010, Crane discovered a tent city along the Mississippi River in his hometown of St. Louis. Curious about the residents and what life was like for them each day, he decided to spend a few weeks there volunteering and getting to know them.  Eventually allowed to shoot video of his experience, he quickly realized though that if he wanted to truly capture the full reality of their collective and individual existence, he would need to live there full time…so he moved in with them.

Engaging, thoughtful, and deeply human, “Living In Tents” is not just a film about individuals struggling to survive in a city of tents, it is about the struggle to live life, the power of personal relationships, and the hope and strength of those who never quit.

In lieu of charging admission for the preview, the filmmaker is accepting donations for All Among Us, which builds meaningful relationships with the chronically homeless, single moms, and their children by providing care, love and dignity. All Among Us was founded by Cathryn Shaw who is a featured volunteer in the documentary.
