There is a Free Screening  of JUDGEMENT IN HUNGARY, a most compelling courtroom drama documentary, at the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center  (12 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO, 63146) on  Sunday March 26 at 1 p.m.

Filmmaker Eszter Hajdú spent three years following the trial of four men charged with killing Roma children and adults, motivated by “racial hatred.” Hajdú and her crew documented the 167 days of hearings in this intense, award-winning  drama set in a small court room in Hungary.

The recipient of 19 international awards, JUDGEMENT IN HUNGARY has been broadcast in Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Canada, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia- Hercegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Republic of Serbia and Poland.

Besides being shown at the European Parliament in Brussels (and the Hungarian Parliament), JUDGEMENT IN HUNGARY was screened at several film festivals in the following countries: Austria, Belorussia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Canada, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Kosovo, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey. Like HATE by Mathieu Kassovitz in France, it has been shown to educate and sensitize the Hungarian police to the issues at stake.

Introductory remarks and a post screening discussion will be facilitated by Pier Marton (http://piermarton.info), presently the “Unlearning Specialist” at the School of No Media. Besides Yad Vashem, he has lectured on his artwork at the Museum of Modern Art, the Carnegie Museum and the Walker Art Center. He has taught at several major U.S. universities. Marton’s father, photographer Ervin Marton, was in the French Résistance.
