L.A.’s Petersen Automotive Museum Goes BACK TO THE FUTURE
Dust off your flux capacitors and get ready to go 88 miles per hour as the famed Petersen Automotive Museum prepares to become the official home of the Back to the Future DeLorean.
Starting next month, guests can join in for some pretty awesome events celebrating one of the most iconic 80’s movie cars, the time-traveling DeLorean. Best known for its modifications made by Doc Brown, the original picture car will be on display in all its glory (thanks to a recent and very cool restoration).
Festivities kick off on April 20th as museum members are invited to attend an exclusive unveiling of the DeLorean, followed by a panel discussion featuring Back to the Future writer and co-creator Bob Gale and Universal Studios Hollywood Creative Director John Murdy alongside the movie car builders and technicians who restored the DeLorean back to its on-screen condition.
On April 23, uber-fans of the film can don their best 80’s outfit and go back in time as the Petersen re-creates the Enchantment Under the Sea dance from Back to the Future. Guests will rock out to the 80’s rock sensation Missing Persons, and Back to the Future tribute band, The Flux Capacitors.
On Sunday, April 24, DeLorean owners are invited to bring their cars to the Petersen for a DeLorean themed Breakfast Club Cruise-In. All car enthusiasts are invited to participate in the car show and contest on the 3rd floor of the museum’s parking structure. Awards will be given for Best-In-Show, People’s Choice and Petersen Perfection.
Finally, on Sunday, June 8, fans can enjoy an exclusive screening of Back to the Future.
The DeLorean DMC-12 time machine, made famous by the 1985 smash hit, Back to the Future will be on display, courtesy of Universal Studios Hollywood. This marks the first time the on-screen hero car has been at the museum. The official movie screening will be in the Petersen’s Meyer Gallery.
Never fear, WAMG will be there covering all the exiting events! So, what is a jigawatt again?
