Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan To Star In AN IDEAL HOME
Paul Rudd (ANT-MAN, ANCHORMAN 1 & 2) and Oscar nominee Steve Coogan (PHILOMENA) are set to star in drama/comedy AN IDEAL HOME written and directed by Andrew Fleming (HAMLET 2, THE CRAFT).
In pre-production, Remstar Studios and National Bank of Canada are co- financing the film, which is being produced by Gabriella Tana (PHILOMENA, THE DUCHESS), Maria Theresa Arida (ARBITRAGE, CITY ISLAND), Maxime Remillard and Aaron Ryder (FOUNDER, MUD). Clark Peterson and Lisa Wolofsky are executive producing the film.
Fortitude International is handling foreign rights and sales at the European Film Market. UTA Independent Film Group and WME are repping US rights.
Paul (Rudd) and Erasmus (Coogan) are a bickering couple with an extravagant life. Erasmus is a demanding, popular celebrity, and Paul is his more hesitant partner and sidekick. But when Bill, the grandson Erasmus never knew he had, shows up at their high class dinner party with nowhere else to go, the couple reluctantly decide to take him in.
“Comedy stalwarts Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are reuniting on the big screen as a squabbling married couple in Andrew’s endearing and hilarious script about modern family and we are delighted to present this charming film to buyers at EFM,” said Fortitude’s Nadine De Barros.
Paul Rudd most recently co-wrote and starred in Marvel’s ANT-MAN which grossed over $500 million at the box office. Its sequel ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will be released in 2018. He will next be seen in Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which is being released by Walt Disney Studios on May 6, 2016. Rudd will begin production on Duncan Jones’ MUTE later this year. His other film credits include CLUELESS, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER, ANCHORMAN 1 & 2, 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, KNOCKED UP, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, I LOVE YOU, MAN, OUR IDIOT BROTHER, ROLE MODELS, THIS IS 40, PRINCE AVALANCHE, among others.
Four time BAFTA winner Steve Coogan received two Oscar nominations for Best Film and Best Adapted Screenplay as well as a Golden Globe nomination for Best Screenplay for PHILOMENA, which he also starred in. His other acting credits include the critically acclaimed IN THE LOOP starring James Gandolfini, THE TRIP and THE TRIP TO ITALY opposite Rob Brydon and Michael Winterbottom’s 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE. He will next be seen in Oscar nominated writer/director Oren Moverman’s THE DINNER starring Richard Gere and which is based on the international best-seller of the same title and Warren Beatty’s new film, which is currently untitled and is coming out in the fall.
Paul Rudd is repped by Lighthouse Management & Media, UTA and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
