THE VISIT Offers Three New Clips For M. Night Shyamalan’s Thriller
Two kids visiting their long-lost grandparents for the week. Nothing spooky about that. Except it’s the premise for director M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film THE VISIT.
His latest movie is the eerie story of Becca (Olivia DeJonge) and her brother, Tyler (Ed Oxenbould), who are sent to their Nana (Deanna Dunagan) and Pop Pop’s (Peter McRobbie of Lincoln) remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip.
Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of ever getting back home to their Mom (Kathryn Hahn) grow smaller every day. (Trailer)
Shyamalan, whose previous hits include UNBREAKABLE and THE SIXTH SENSE, executive produced and directed the pilot episode of this summer’s terrific (and terrifying) TV show, “Wayward Pines.”
While fans know his blockbuster SIGNS, THE VISIT is not the director’s usual thriller. Shyamalan notes, “One day, I said, ‘We’re going to make small movies from now on.’ There is a speed that ideas come to me, as well as a certain time that they’re meaningful to me. For a big movie that takes three years to make, it is just too long. I need to write it, make it and shoot it with the same power that came from the idea that made sense to me at that time.”
Shyamalan is a producer on the film alongside Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series) and Marc Bienstock (Quarantine 2: Terminal).
Universal Pictures will release THE VISIT in theaters on September 11th.
