Watch The First Trailer For Michael Bay’s 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI
2013 saw the release of Peter Berg’s LONE SURVIVOR, the true story of SEAL Team 10 and the failed United States Navy SEALs counter-insurgent mission “Operation Red Wings.” Based on Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson’s book, the film received two Oscar nominations for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, received positive reviews and went onto a $149 million box office gross worldwide.
In 2014, Clint Eastwood brought to the screen AMERICAN SNIPER, based on the memoir American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History (2012) by Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. The film became a box office success (worldwide $547 million), was embraced by moviegoers, received great reviews and went onto garner six Academy Awards nominations.
Now comes Paramount Pictures’ 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI. The devastatingly haunting first trailer for director Michael Bay’s upcoming film stars Pablo Schreiber, John Krasinski, Toby Stephens and James Badge Dale.
The film is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s impactful 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi
13 HOURS presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there.
Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack.
13 HOURS sets the record straight on what happened during a night that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. Written by New York Times bestselling author Mitchell Zuckoff, this riveting book takes readers into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their country.
13 HOURS is a stunning, eye-opening, and intense book — but most importantly, it is the truth. The story of what happened to these men — and what they accomplished — is unforgettable.
Before the book debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list in Sept. 2014, Zuckoff wrote on his Facebook page that 13 Hours “is a tribute to the four brave men — Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone “Rone” Woods and Glen “Bub” Doherty — who gave their lives for our country.”
In an in-depth interview with Douglas Blackmon of Miller Center’s American Forum, Zuckoff said, “I think there are lessons that we need to study what happened that night now I hope can keep our people safe in the other 275 places around the world where we place them doing our business.” Read the transcript HERE.
13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI opens on January 15, 2016 – the same date AMERICAN SNIPER went into a wide theatrical release after it’s awards season qualifying opening in 2014 and saw nominations for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Bradley Cooper, ultimately winning one Oscar for Best Sound Editing. LONE SURVIVOR opened in limited release in the United States on December 25, 2013, before opening across North America on January 10, 2014.
