THUNDERBIRDS ARE A GO As Tracy Brothers Return In First Trailer For British TV Series
“5, 4, 3, 2, 1: Thunderbirds Are Go!”
A remake of the British television show is returning. The original aired on ITV in 1965, featuring Gerry Anderson’s “supermarionation” puppet techniques.
A film version of the series, directed by Jonathan Frakes, hit the big screen in 2004 and was considered a box office flop. Anderson, who died at the age of 83 on December 26, 2012, described the movie as “the biggest load of crap I have ever seen in my life”.
Thunderbirds Are Go! is due to air in the UK in 2015, the 50th anniversary year of the original.
When disaster strikes and there’s no one else to help, International Rescue answers the call! From their secret island base, this family of highly trained responders can reach every corner of the globe – and beyond – in minutes.
With their remarkable cutting edge Thunderbird Vehicles, brothers Scott, Virgil, John, Gordon and Alan Tracy along with head of security Kayo and lead engineer Brains pull off amazing feats of heroism. No rescue is too big and no journey too far to save a life.
When duty calls, Thunderbirds are GO.
Thunderbirds follows the adventures of the Tracy family, headed by Jeff Tracy, an American multi-millionaire philanthropist. Jeff is a widower whose five adult sons – Scott, John, Virgil, Gordon and Alan – are named after Mercury Seven astronauts (Scott Carpenter, John Glenn, Virgil “Gus” Grissom, Gordon Cooper and Alan Shepard).
Listen to VFX Producer Sharon Lark on the 26-part series airing in the UK on ITV and the CITV channel.
