1. Dame Julie Andrews surprised the crowd at the end of the SOUND OF MUSIC tribute and brought the house down at the Dolby Theatre. The tribute for the beloved 50 year old movie was introduced by Scarlett Johansson and beautifully sung by Lady Gaga.
2. Tears from David Oyelowo after the “Glory” performance from Common and John Legend. “Glory” went onto win Best Song.
3. Tim McGraw singing “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.”
4. Opening number, “Moving Pictures,” made us fall in love with movies all over again.
5. John Travolta and Idina Menzel on stage together to present Best Song after last year’s “Adele Dazeem” snafu. Idina Menzel introduced Travolta “Glom Gazingo”.
6. Eddie Murphy rockin’ the white tux to present Original Screenplay to BIRDMAN.
7. Neil Patrick Harris in his tightie-whities.
A final special mention.
Who knew Yoda was going to walk the red carpet? Former daytime television anchor Willow Bay wore the Star Wars inspired, Rodarte dress.
Many didn’t notice, but we did.
