Actor Bob Hoskins Dead at 71
Best know to American audiences for his lead as Eddie Valiant in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, versatile actor Bob Hoskins had a long and distinguished career spanning four decades that included one Oscar nomination, multiple Golden Globe and BAFTA noms and even a BAFTA win for MONA LISA in 198. Though just 5’6″, Hoskins made an intimidating gangster in several films including THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY and was even cast as Capone in THE UNTOUCHABLES before DeNiro bumped him out at the last minute (Hoskins still got paid). Hoskins showed his lighter side in films such as ROGER RABBIT, HOOK and SPICE WORLD. Bob Hoskins died Tuesday from pneumonia at age 71. He had retired from films in 2012, a year after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
