NOAH Movie No. 1 At Box Office With $44 Million – $77.6 Million Worldwide Weekend
The top-12 domestic weekend box office estimates are in and director Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH was #1 with moviegoers.
Rentrak’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “Paramount’s NOAH makes its mark as it floods the global marketplace with a $77.6 million worldwide weekend.”
Additionally, “the international marketplace heats up for Disney with the massive number one $75.2 million debut of their CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.” The film hits theaters this Friday.
This weekend, Disney’s FROZEN officially became the highest grossing animated film of all time, and with $1,072.4 million worldwide, it has also entered the list of the top 10 biggest films of all time.
The Walt Disney Studios’ seventh billion-dollar release, FROZEN has earned an estimated $398.4 million at the domestic box office and $674 million internationally.
THE LEGO MOVIE continues to build a following with audiences in the U.S. and around the globe, surpassing the $400 million mark in worldwide grosses and remaining a box office draw.
Following its record-breaking February 7th North American opening, THE LEGO MOVIE, from Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and LEGO System A/S, was a huge hit with audiences and critics across the country and captured the top spot at the box office for three consecutive weeks.
It also proved a crowd-pleaser internationally, entertaining moviegoers throughout Asia, Latin America and Europe, with an especially dominant UK showing that ranked number one at the box office for three consecutive weeks and has so far taken in $52.5 million.
Continuing its global expansion, THE LEGO MOVIE is set to debut in additional territories in the coming weeks, including Australia on April 3rd and Germany on April 10th.
