10 Buzzed About Moments From The 86th Oscars

After last year’s complete disaster with host Seth MacFarlane, expectations for this year’s Oscar telecast were high. Producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan smartly brought back previous host Ellen DeGeneres to host the 86th Academy Awards and they did not disappoint.
The Wrap is reporting Sunday’s big show are up slightly over last year’s numbers and appear to be the highest-rated Oscars since 2005, according to very early numbers.
From funny and emotional to the upsets and what-were-they-thinking, here are the ten big moments from the night.
French film MR. HUBLOT beats out the favorite, Disney’s GET A HORSE!, in the Animated Short category.
AMERICAN HUSTLE and WOLF OF WALL STREET shut out.

Lupita Nyong’o’s emotional speech. “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from your dreams are valid.” Add to the fact that Liza Minnelli stepped over and hugged like a mother would – a very sweet moment.
Jared Leto’s impactful speech, “And this for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you. Thank you so much and goodnight.“
Ellen’s and A-listers selfie that crashed Twitter after telling a global audience to retweet it.
Pizza handed out to the stars in the Dolby Theater and not soon enough for Harrison Ford, who by the looks of his rambling presentation on stage, clearly had the munchies.
In his Vinny Barbarino moment, John Travolta introduces Frozen’s “Let It Go” singer Idina Menzel as “the Wickedly talented Adele Dazeem.” There’s now a Twitter account for Adele Dazeem. What makes it worse is that Travolta said it as though he practiced it that way.
Pink singing the WIZARD OF OZ tribute, “Somewhere over the Rainbow” was boring. Why didn’t they have the 3 children of Judy Garland (Lorna Luft, Joey Luft and Liza Minnelli) do something instead of just standing up in the audience?
Pharrell singing “Happy” from DESPICABLE ME 2 and then going out into the audience to dance with Lupita Nyong’o, followed by a shimmy from Meryl Streep.
