THE AMERICANS Season 1 Blu-Ray and DVD Release Party

THE AMERICANS Season 1 Blu-ray and DVD release party took place recently at Nic’s Beverly Hills. Guests in attendance were invited to Vodka-tasting in Nic’s 28-degree chilled VodBox. Attendees were also treated to Americans inspired “Cold War Cosmos,” custom laser-etched phone cases, Russian Ushanka hats, as well as an opportunity to chat with Executive Producers of The Americans – Graham Yost, Darrel Frank, and Justin Falvey.

While at the event, myself, and several members of the press sat down with executive producers Graham Yost, Darrel Frank, and Justin Falvey about the show. One interesting topic that they talked about was the soundtrack to the show, and how a lot of their song choices tend to come from the B-side of albums, which is just as effective without distracting the viewer from what is going on.

Another great topic that was discussed was “Are we supposed to be rooting for the bad guys, the KGB” to which the response was “Well, I hope you root for the marriage.” because, despite being the enemy in the eyes of the U.S. they are still two people living together, who are now raising children. It has been led on a bit that the children will become a bit more suspicious of their parents in Season 2.

After speaking with Graham Yost, Darrel Frank, and Justin Falvey. my good pal Crix Lee (who was covering the event for Geek Nation) and I put on our Russian Ushanka hats and hit the VodBox where we sampled several different vodkas from around the world in a 28 degree setting. As someone who has a long history of bartending, I have collected a bit of knowledge about vodka over the years (Let’s face it… it’s my favorite thing to pour into my booze hole!), so it was nice to talk about vodkas that aren’t easy to find, or that are not widely known. Also, I got to drink them… so that was pretty nifty!

This was a fantastic event to hype all of us up for Season 2, which returns to FX on February 26th. Season 1 of THE AMERICANS is available on Blu-Ray and DVD now.
