Final Box Office Totals Of 2013 – THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG Remains No. 1
The numbers for the final box office weekend of 2013 are here and, overall, the year broke all kind of records in ticket sales.
Moving into its third week in release, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG continues to dominate the global box office, remaining the #1 film in U.S. and abroad. On Saturday the film crossed the $500 million mark globally.
Rentrak’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented,
“Warner Bros. THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG continues its worldwide domination of the box office adding another $98.3 million internationally in 62 territories plus $29.85 million in North America for a combined weekend of $128.15 million & an impressive global total to date of $614.1 million.
Disney is also having a very happy year end with the animated FROZEN taking the second spot internationally with $79.3 million in 44 territories for a worldwide total nearing half a billion dollars.”
