Tye Sheridan Cast In THE FORGER Alongside John Travolta

Tye Sheridan (MUD, THE TREE OF LIFE) is set to star opposite two-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner John Travolta (GET SHORTY) in heist film THE FORGER, to be directed by BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning director, Philip Martin.

Written by Richard D’Ovidio (THE CALL), THE FORGER tells the story of a former child art prodigy and second generation petty thief, Ray Cutter (Travolta) who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, Will Cutter (Sheridan), only to be forced to change his plans and commit one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.

THE FORGER, currently in pre-production, will start principal photography in Boston in October.

Sheridan made his feature film debut in Terrence Malick’s THE TREE OF LIFE co-starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt. He was most recently seen in Roadside Attractions’ breakout hit earlier this year, MUD opposite Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon.

He will next star in JOE co-starring Nicolas Cage which will make its world premiere at the upcoming Venice Film Festival and North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. He will shortly begin filming DARK PLACES, based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, opposite Charlize Theron.

BAFTA and Emmy Award Winner Philip Martin’s credits include the BBC’s television drama “Hawking” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and two episodes of BBC’s “Wallander” starring Kenneth Branagh, which won the BAFTA for Best Drama Series and earned Branagh an Emmy nomination.  Martin won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries Movie or Dramatic Special for the final installment of the ITV drama “Prime Suspect.”  Martin also directed Channel Four’s “Mo” starring Julie Walters, which won him the BAFTA Award for Best Director Fiction/Entertainment.

Code’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso will produce the film along with Prospect Park’s Rob Carliner. Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel will executive produce alongside The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson. Anson Downes and Linda Favila will serve as co-executive producers.

The Solution is handling international sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, with WME Global and ICM Partners handling domestic sales. The announcement was made today by producers and co-financiers Code Entertainment’s (“Code”) Al Corley and Bart Rosenblatt and Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel of The Solution Entertainment Group (“The Solution”).
