Get A First Look At Focus Features’ THE WORLD’S END, CLOSED CIRCUIT In Summer Movie Lineup

Focus Features has sent us a preview for two of their big films coming at you this summer. Have a look at writer/director Edgar Wright’s THE WORLD’S END and director John Crowley’s CLOSED CIRCUIT.

The studios’ previous crowd pleasers have been Golden Globe nominee HYDE PARK ON HUDSON, Oscar nominees PARANORMAN and  MOONRISE KINGDOM as well as the Academy-Award winning ANNA KARENINA. THE WORLD’S END – August 23, 2013

Director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for a third film following the successes “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) and “Hot Fuzz” (2007). In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Directed by Edgar Wright (“Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) and written by Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright, the cast includes Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.

CLOSED CIRCUIT – August 28, 2013

In this international thriller, two ex-lovers, Martin (Eric Bana of “Hanna”) and Claudia (Golden Globe Award nominee Rebecca Hall), find their loyalties tested and their lives at risk when they are joined together on the defense team in a terrorism trial.

From the writer of “Eastern Promises,” Steve Knight, CLOSED CIRCUIT is directed by John Crowley (“Boy A”).

The movie stars Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall, Ciarán Hinds, Riz Ahmed, Anne-Marie Duff, Kenneth Cranham, Denis Moschitto, Julia Stiles, and Jim Broadbent.
