It was announced today that Billy Crudup (“Almost Famous,” “Watchmen”), Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Like Crazy”), Selena Gomez (“Spring Breakers”) and Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix” trilogy, “Contagion, “Man of Steel”) will star alongside William H. Macy (“Fargo”) and Felicity Huffman (“Desperate Housewives”) in Unified Pictures’ music drama RUDDERLESS. Macy is making his feature directorial debut, directing “Rudderless.”

The film is being produced by Keith Kjarval through his Unified Pictures production/finance banner. Brad Greiner, through his Amberdale production banner, is also producing alongside Kjarval and Unified.

Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling foreign sales on the project and will introduce the feature film to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market in May.

“Rudderless” is a musical drama about the power of a parent’s love. When a grieving father in a downward spiral stumbles across a box of his deceased son’s original music, he forms a band, hoping to find peace in the wake of his tragic loss.

Casey Twenter and Jeff Robison adapted the screenplay from the original story they wrote with William H. Macy. Principal photography will commence this April in Oklahoma.

Said Kjarval, “Bill Macy is a profoundly talented artist and to surround him with such a diverse variety of tremendous actors makes us extremely confident this film will deliver on every level.”

Said Steinbauer, “I am delighted to be working on William H. Macy’s directorial debut which promises to be a wonderful, life-affirming film with an A-list cast attached that will appeal to the international marketplace.”

Kjarval’s Unified Pictures has two films premiering in the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival – the thriller “A Single Shot,” directed by David M. Rosenthal, starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Wright, and the dark comedy “Trust Me,” directed by and starring Clark Gregg, alongside Amanda Peet, Molly Shannon, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell.

The company’s animation division just tapped two of Hollywood’s most illustrious animators, Academy Award® nominee John Stevenson (‘Kung Fu Panda,” “Shrek”) and Cameron Hood (“Megamind,” “First Flight”) for the company’s CG-animated feature “Noah’s Ark.”

Unified Pictures has completed five films in the past 18 months alone. Among these are “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” (dir. George Tillman Jr., starring Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks), which opened the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, “A Single Shot” (dir. David Rosenthal, starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, Jeffrey Wright), which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and will next screen in Tribeca, and “Trust Me” (dir. Clark Gregg, starring Gregg, Sam Rockwell, Amanda Peet, Molly Shannon, and William H. Macy) which will have its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival.

Radiant’s current slate includes the teen thriller TAKE DOWN to be directed by Jim Gillespie (I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER), AS COOL AS I AM starring Claire Danes and James Marsden, LULLABY starring Garrett Hedlund, Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins and four-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams, TRUST ME written/directed by and starring Clark Gregg with Sam Rockwell and Amanda Peet, DECODING ANNE PARKER featuring Samantha Morton and Academy Award winning actress Helen Hunt, MADAME BOVARY with Mia Wasikowska, Paul Giamatti and Ezra Miller, RUN BOY RUN directed by Academy Award winning director Pepe Danquart, THE CITIZEN from filmmaker Sam Kadi and THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF with Kristen Stewart, William Hurt and Maria Bello.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
