Frank Grillo Lands Role Of Crossbones In Marvel / Disney’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Variety has reported that Frank Grillo (END OF WATCH, THE GREY) will take on he villainous role of Crossbones in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.

You can catch Grillo in the upcoming films ZERO DARK THIRTY from director Kathryn Bigelow and Warner Bros. Pictures’ GANGSTER SQUAD.

Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will be here to save the day on April 4, 2014. From directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the second installment will pick-up where The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Chris Evans returns as the star-spangled hero in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER., along with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (who becomes assassin the Winter Soldier), Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Scarlett Johansson. Anthony Mackie will play Cap ally Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon.

Crossbones , the Red Skull’s number 1 henchman/assassin, was created by writer Ed Brubaker during his stint on the Marvel comic a few years ago. The next major character to be cast is Sharon Carter, SHIELD agent and Cap’s modern-day romantic interest. And yes, she is related to Rogers’s World War II paramour. In the new flick will she be a niece? Granddaughter? IMDB says that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (SMASHED) may have the role. Recently Aintitcoolnews.com listed 5 other possible actresses. A good possibility may be Alison Brie (THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT) since she is one the stars of the TV show that the directors, the Russo brothers, co-0created: “Community”. We shall see.
