Scott Pictures Launches International Sales & Joint Venture With Exclusive Media – JANE GOT A GUN Starring Natalie Portman First Title Announced
Scott Steindorff’s Scott Pictures, an affiliate of Stone Village Productions, has launched a new international sales company, Scott Pictures International (SPI) under a unique and exclusive three year partnership with leading sales agent Exclusive Media, it was announced today by Steindorff, Chairman of SPI and Alex Walton, President of International Sales and Distribution for Exclusive Media.
Exclusive Media will handle the international sales and servicing for all Scott Pictures’ theatrical feature film productions under this new separate SPI label.
Production and financing company Scott Pictures anticipates producing between 3 – 5 major feature films per year and those will be serviced under the deal. The first film to be announced is the Natalie Portman starrer JANE GOT A GUN, to be directed by Lynne Ramsay (WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN) from a script by Brian Duffield. Steindorff and banker Peter Nathanial will finance and produce the action movie with Portman through her Handsomecharlie Films banner alongside Terry Dougas (SWING VOTE) of 1821 and Chris Coen (FUNNY GAMES). Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Aleen Keshishian will exec produce with 1821’s Paris Latsis, Scott Pictures’ Scott LaStaiti and Dylan Russell.
Set to start shooting in early 2013, JANE GOT A GUN centers on a woman who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang who are out to kill him.
“Overseeing our own foreign sales is a natural next step for Scott Pictures as we plan to produce 3 – 5 of our own theatrically released pictures each year for the next 5 years. It’s about controlling the process, creating a brand and supplying great films to international distributors. We are extremely excited to be in business with Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Alex Walton and their team. They have an excellent track record in this industry and will ensure we license, market and distribute our films effectively,” said Steindorff.
Walton continued, “It is very exciting to be working with clever creative partners who are building a thriving new business. We look forward to being instrumental in that growth for Scott and his team and JANE GOT A GUN is a great way to begin.”
The deal was brokered by CAA and negotiated by Paul Davidge, COO International for Exclusive Media and Dylan Russell for Scott Pictures.
Steindorff is joined by partners Peter Nathanial, Scott LaStaiti, Dylan Russell, and Peter Fruchtman in managing SPI within the Scott Pictures Group.
Exclusive Media’s international sales arm will continue to operate as a standalone entity, in addition to its joint venture with SPI.
Scott Pictures is also developing the horror thriller LAND OF THE LIVING from director Olivier Megaton and writer Nicci French based on the novel by Sean Gullette. Under Stone Village Pictures, Steindorff’s recent credits include THE HUMAN STAIN starring Anthony Hopkins, LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA and THE LINCOLN LAWYER starring Matthew McConaughey.
