Four cinematic gems from the 1930s that have been unavailable for years are coming to DVD this August in a unique collection from Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE). Released as part of the TCM Vault Collection, the Universal Rarities: Films of the 1930s set features some of the biggest stars of the era, including W.C. Fields inMillion Dollar Legs (1932), Mae West in Belle of the Nineties (1934), Jack Benny in Artists & Models (1937) and Gary Cooper and George Raft in Souls at Sea (1937).

The Universal Rarities: Films of the 1930s collection will be available exclusively through TCM’s online store at http://www.shop.tcm.com, beginning August 6. The set features extensive digital bonus materials, such as photos, posters, lobby cards and more. The following four films included in the Universal Rarities: Films of the 1930s collection:

Million Dollar Legs (1932) – In this hilarious Pre-Code musical-comedy, the legendary W.C. Fields plays the president of a fictional country who winds up competing in the Olympics.

Belle of the Nineties (1934) – Mae West slinks her way through this risqué comedy-drama about a St. Louis entertainer who relocates to New Orleans and becomes a nightclub sensation.

Artists & Models (1937) – Jack Benny headlines an amazing cast that includes Ida Lupino, Martha Raye and Louis Armstrong in this delightful musical- comedy revue.

Souls at Sea (1937) – This early adventure directed by Henry Hathaway stars Gary Cooper as a ship captain opposed to the slave trade.

Previous Universal titles released include a pair of Marlene Dietrich dramas directed by Josef von Sternberg; a set of memorable Douglas Sirk films; a set of Pre-Code classics from the era before Hollywood began rigid self-censorship; a double feature with the 1941 and 1961 film versions of Fannie Hurst’s Back Street; and collections spotlighting such stars as Joel McCrae, Audie Murphy, Cary Grant, Fred MacMurray, Claudette Colbert, Barbara Stanwyck, Deanna Durbin and more.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
