“Tens of thousands of fans nationwide celebrated the 70th anniversary of this beloved classic in local movie theaters, with the event becoming the top box office performer that night for many locations across the country,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president for NCM Fathom Events. “We’ve heard from many fans of this iconic film asking for another opportunity to enjoy it on the big screen, so we’re happy to be able to play it again on April 26.”
The event features a TCM-produced introduction by TCM host Robert Osborne, who discusses Casablanca’s enduring legacy and reveals some of its fascinating behind-the-scenes stories. Casablanca, one of the most romantic films in the history of cinema, stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid. It won three Academy Awards® in 1944, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
Warner Home Video recently released the Casablanca Ultimate Collector’s 70th Anniversary Edition featuring a 3-Disc limited and numbered gift set including the remastered feature on both Blu-rayTM and DVD with nearly 14 hours of bonus material. The keepsake box also includes a compilation of three comprehensive feature length documentaries, a hard-cover 62-page book with never-before-seen on-set photography, sketches and production history, a reproduction of the original 1942 French theatrical poster, as well as a collectible set of drink coasters.
