Watch two brand new (and REALLY awesome) vignette videos with Stan from With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story. These interviews are really unique, in that they feature Stan talking about some never before shared information about some of the details of THE AVENGERS. In the first, Stan shares the background of Captain America. The second, Stan talks about why he couldn’t make any of the AVENGERS films before he did.
EPIX will present Marvel Heroes Weekend, April 27 – 29, a marathon of superhero movies including Iron Man 2, Thor, the world television premiere ofCaptain America: The First Avenger and the EPIX Original Documentary With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story. Hosted by legendary comic book creator Stan Lee, the marathon also includes EPIX Extra: Mighty Movie Superheroes, examining the origins and fan following of the mighty team. The weekend celebration of Marvel’s famed superheroes and their creator features the movies that have led up to the highly anticipated theatrical release of The Avengers on May 4.
The EPIX Original Documentary With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story follows the life and creations of Stan Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man and over 200 other characters that can be found in Marvel comic books, on movie screens and in retail stores around the world.
With Great Power explores the life of Stan Lee from the early days of his Depression era upbringing through the Marvel age of comics! The film uncovers original transcripts, illustrations, photographs and stories of Lee’s journey from his early years at Timely Comics, his military service, the comic book industry’s censorship battle of the 1950’s, the dawn of Marvel Comics and the legendary characters Stan co-created, to his current company POW! Entertainment.
MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS – the Super Hero team up of a lifetime – is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since.
In “Marvel’s The Avengers” the world’s greatest Super Heroes assemble when Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) join S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to protect the world from the dangerous and powerful villain, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
An exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS is from Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures, produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Joss Whedon from a story by Zak Penn and Joss Whedon with screenplay by Joss Whedon.
MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS will be released in the U.S. in 3D and IMAX 3D on May 4, 2012.
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE and Marvel’s The Avengers original motion picture soundtrack will be available May 1, 2012 wherever music is sold. The film will close the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival on April 28.
