Renowned Composer/Double-violinist Gingger Shankar to debut “Himalaya Song” at Sundance 2012

Multimedia Performance Film focuses on the Region Burdened by Major Ecological Changes

Classically trained violinist and renowned composer Gingger Shankar will debut her latest film project “Himalaya Song” this week at Sundance 2012. Collaborating with Chinese musician David Liang and filmaker Mridu Chandra, Shankar infused modern electro-sounds and ancient instruments to tell the story of the geographic region that is currently burdened by melting glaciers and major ecological changes.

Gingger is also on the roster of the 2012 Sundance Alumni Advisory Board.

Gingger Shankar is a seasoned composer and musician having worked with artists like the Smashing Pumpkins, Cheap Trick and scored the critically acclaimed Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ. She is the only female and one of 2 double-violinists in the world.
