Relativity Media To Co-Sponsor 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic In Support of Upcoming Action-Thriller ACT OF VALOR
The NCAA Basketball Game Honors the Men and Women of the United States Armed Forces with proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
Relativity Media announced today that it will promote its upcoming groundbreaking, intense, action-thriller Act of Valor, which showcases an elite group of active duty Navy SEALs in a fictionalized composite of actual events, through a co-sponsorship of the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic game between the Michigan State Spartans and North Carolina Tar Heels on November 11, 2011. President Barack Obama is expected to attend the inaugural game on Veteran’s Day, which will be held on the massive flight deck of the United States Navy aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson docked at Naval Base Coronado in the San Diego harbor. The 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic will honor and entertain the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
Morale Entertainment Foundation Inc. and ESPN have worked together to organize and produce the Division 1 Men’s Basketball game played for more than 7,000 spectators, among them President Barack Obama. Additional attendees will include: active-duty sailors, other branches of the military, including Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard; veterans and retirees, those involved with the Wounded Warrior Project, San Diego Sports Commission, sponsors, Morale Entertainment Foundation, ESPN, as well as fans from each of the respective schools competing in the game. The live broadcast begins at 4:00 PM PST/7:00 PM EST and tipoff is set for 4:15 PM PST/7:15 PM EST.
Promotional components of Relativity’s sponsorship include a two minute block in the second half to air exclusive Act of Valor footage in stadium and on the televised broadcast; commentary throws during the game; 7,500 in-stadium seat cushions with the Act of Valor title treatment; logo placement on game day program book as well as any print, web, and promotional materials and logo inclusion on all banners, and electronic messaging, which will be played live on the carrier and in press media rooms as well throughout ESPN’s three telecasts of the game.
“This is a first-of-its-kind event and we are extremely excited to be a part of it. Act of Valor will entertain wide audiences, inspiring Americans to be proud of, and celebrate, our servicemen and women, which aligns perfectly with this event and Morale Entertainment’s mission,” Relativity’s President, Theatrical Marketing Terry Curtin said.
Relativity Media will kick off President’s Day Weekend with the release of Act of Valor, February 17, 2012, which follows a Navy SEAL squad on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, and in the process takes down a complex web of terrorist cells determined to strike America at all costs. The filmmakers had unprecedented Naval access resulting in high-octane combat sequences and never-before-seen military operation scenes which are composited from actual events in the lives of the men appearing in the film and their comrades.
The film is produced and directed by former stuntmen and documentary/commercial directors Mike “Mouse” McCoy (Dust to Glory) and Scott Waugh (Step Into Liquid) and written by Kurt Johnstad (300).

ABOUT MORALE ENTERTAINMENT FOUNDATION:
Mission: The mission of the Morale Entertainment Foundation is to entertain and celebrate the men and women of our Armed Forces, and to inspire profound appreciation and support from a grateful America. With an understanding of the sacrifices and demands that they must bear during and after their service, we work full-time to elicit support for them as service men and women and as citizens. We realize that the needs of our armed forces are constant. We acknowledge that there is a tendency to focus on our military during times of war or national emergency, and then let them slip from our consciousness during times of peace. To that end we want to feature our service members in a way that raises our awareness of their needs during war time, peace time and upon the conclusion of their service and their entry back to civilian life. Our mission is to provide unique entertainment for their rest and recreation, and provide a platform and venue from which to raise the public’s awareness of them and an understanding of their issues. The nature of their service and the sacrifices they must make is also borne by their families and friends. We see our service men and women as brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, fathers and mothers and realize that their challenges and needs impact those around them. We should always have a sense of them as fellow citizens and not just when we call on them to defend us. Remember to make every day Veterans Day!
Goal: The goal of Morale is to use the power and emotion associated with Sports, Entertainment and Music as a vehicle to convey our mission and to raise the bar in providing our troops with unusual access to memorable, one-of-a-kind events including performing arts, celebrity appearances, comedy, collegiate and professional sports, music and motivational presentations. We strive to create environments where both the event and our service members and veterans become part of a larger learning opportunity for a civilian audience to know our military. The quality of our troops and the nature of their service and commitment hold positive lessons for all of us. We want these unique events to serve as forums for this exchange as we raise awareness of our veterans and increase our understanding of their issues. We look forward to you joining us for this exciting occasion.
Team: Morale Entertainment was founded by a small group of patriots with backgrounds in entertainment, broadcasting, sports, government and business who wanted to do something meaningful to improve the morale of our troops deployed overseas. Our seasoned logistical and production resources enable us to provide troops unusual access to memorable, one-of-a-kind events including performing arts, celebrity appearances, comedy, collegiate and professional sports and motivational presentations. Our members are career professionals who have produced thousands of national and international tours, events, and broadcast products for tens of millions of attendees
