RESTLESS Taken Out Of Sundance Line-Up
Anne Thompson from Thompson on Hollywood is reporting that Columbia Pictures has unexpectedly pulled Gus Van Sant’s RESTLESS from the Sundance Premiere line-up. Thompson writes:
The film was finished long ago, although the fest says the director wants to keep working on it. Maybe he is harboring hopes for Cannes, which has debuted his films in the past. But Sundance would seem to be the perfect launch pad for a teen drama that has all the earmarks of a Sony Pictures Classics release. It hardly looks like a mainstream picture.
Here’s the trailer.
Synopsis:
From Imagine Entertainment comes a powerful and emotional coming of age story, a remarkable film told with honesty and originality that will leave audiences moved. In the film, two outsiders, both shaped by the circumstances that have brought them together, forge a deep and lasting love. Directed by Gus Van Sant, one of the most astute observers of people living life on the edge, comes a take on friendship and young love as engaging and true as it is provocative and stirring. The screenplay is by Jason Lew.
The film will be in theaters on January 28, 2011. Visit the film on Facebook HERE.
