68th Annual Golden Globe Nominations

By  |

Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes and Blair Underwood joined HFPA President Philip Berk to announce the nominations for the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards from the Beverly Hilton early this morning. THE KING’S SPEECH saw the most love from the HFPA with 7 nominations for the Weinstein Films royal drama. THE SOCIAL NETWORK and THE FIGHTER saw 6 noms each and KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, BLACK SWAN and INCEPTION round out the nominations with four.

As most awards season watcher will notice, some of the “surprise” nominations like the 2 for Johnny Depp, the embrace for THE TOURIST and even BURLESQUE, all stem from the Hollywood FOREIGN Press Association’s annual need for A-List stars and ratings. No nominations from foreign journalists for TRUE GRIT means nothing. AMPAS voting members will make up for this “snub” in January when the Academy Award Nomination are announced. Besides, the Globes is always an entertaining show to watch – I can’t wait to see what CHER wears on the red carpet.
