THE KING’S SPEECH Trailer Bows

The trailer for Tom Hooper’s THE KING’S SPEECH and has arrived at last. Fellow Anglophiles, rejoice and watch the brilliant Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

Well, for this British Monarchist and Oscar fan, I was quite ecstatic by the high praise it received after its appearance at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals. Look for it to see Academy Award nominations (dare I say wins) for Best Picture, Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Supporting Actor (Geoffrey Rush), Best Director, Original Screenplay, Editing, Art Direction, Score, Costume, and for good measure, possible Makeup, Supporting Actress (Helena Bonham Carter) and Cinemtography nods as well.

Synopsis:

Based on the true story of the Queen of England’s father and his remarkable friendship with maverick Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue, THE KING’S SPEECH stars Academy Award nominee Colin Firth (A SINGLE MAN) as King George VI, who unexpectedly becomes King when his brother Edward abdicates the throne. Academy Award Winner Geoffrey Rush (SHINE) stars as Logue, the man who helps the King find a voice with which to lead the nation into war.

The multi-award-winning cast includes Helena Bonham Carter (ALICE IN WONDERLAND) as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Guy Pearce (THE HURT LOCKER), Derek Jacobi (THE GOLDEN COMPASS), Timothy Spall (THE DAMNED UNITED) and Michael Gambon (HARRY POTTER).
