Harrison Ford Joining COWBOYS to Take on ALIENS

Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is. Please don’t tell anybody.

That little announcement came to us courtesy of Jon Favreau’s Twitter account after being hounded for confirmation.  Latino Review had been playing the “is he or isn’t he” game ever since they received a tip that Ford had been cast in a huge comic book film that was being directed by the director of another, huge, comic book film.  They put 2 and 2 together, came up with 6, and then started thinking about what this comic book movie could be.  It only seemed logical that their source was referring to Jon Favreau, IRON MAN 2, and COWBOYS AND ALIENS.

Ford will be joining Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde in the film about Apache Indians and settlers taking on invaders from space.  There is no word yet on what Ford’s role will be in the film or if it will be anything more than a bit part.  Putting him in the role of a secondary character, one that is big enough to be notable but not the protagonist, might be beneficial to Ford’s career.

The man who once was Indiana Jones and Han Solo hasn’t, exactly, had a string of critical hits as of late.  Some (myself included) don’t think he’s had a truly great film since THE FUGITIVE, and that’s been nearly 20 years.  Time will tell on what type of role Ford will have in COWBOYS AND ALIENS, but just having his name attached to it in any sense gets the geek excitement in all of us brewing.
