DiCaprio Working Towards Oscar Nomination While Playing J. Edgar Hoover
Leonardo DiCaprio keeps striving for that Oscar, and Clint Eastwood seems to be the man to bring him to it. Deadline is reporting DiCaprio is in early talks to take the lead role in Eastwood’s HOOVER about J. Edgar Hoover and the early days of the FBI. The film, scripted by MILK screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, is set to begin shooting later in the year after Eastwood wraps up post on HEREAFTER starring Matt Damon.
Of course, whether DiCaprio signs the bottom line on a contract for HOOVER remains to be seen. He’s got about a dozen projects he’s either rumored to be in or attached to, and, while the DiCaprio/Eastwood teaming seems like a match made in awards season Heaven, I’m sure Eastwood would have no problems finding someone else to fill the role.
And, just in case you were getting worried, this story is about a young J. Edgar Hoover. The cross-dressing rumors evidently don’t even make a cameo.
