Oscar Presenters On The 82nd Academy Awards Show
The clock is running, so its par for the course that a flurry of Oscar news comes straight from the horse’s mouth.
Oscar producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic announced on Monday that past Oscar winners Kathy Bates, Barbra Streisand and Charlize Theron will join former Oscar nominees Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah and John Travolta as presenters at the 82nd Academy Awards. Collectively the group has earned 16 nominations and won four Academy Awards.
So Babs will present the first woman, Kathryn Bigelow, the Oscar for Best Director, right? I suppose there’s a certain symmetry here if Bigelow wins and Streisand, who directed Best Picture nominee THE PRINCE OF TIDES, without the benefit of a nomination herself, is on hand. Last week it was announced that Tyler Perry, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jason Bateman, Steve Carell, Tina Fey and Ben Stiller would be presenters as well.
Additionally,
Managing editor of Entertainment Weekly Jeff Cagle, co-host of ABC’s “The View” Sherri Shepherd, and model-turned-mogul Kathy Ireland will serve as hosts for the 82nd Academy Awards pre-show “Oscars Red Carpet… 2010” and will air on the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PT, immediately preceding the Oscar telecast. This will be Ireland’s and Shepherd’s first time hosting the Oscar® pre-show and Cagle’s second consecutive year as a host.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.
