American Society of Cinematographers Awards: THE WHITE RIBBON

By  |

On Saturday night in Los Angeles, actor Timothy Dalton presented the 2010 ASC Award for Outstanding Cinematography to Christian Berger for his stunning work on THE WHITE RIBBON. Berger surprisingly triumphed over fellow nominees Barry Ackroyd – THE HURT LOCKER, Dion Beebe – NINE, Mauro Fiore – AVATAR and Robert Richardson – INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. Also an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, THE WHITE RIBBON is the ninth predominantly black-and-white film to be nominated for Best Cinematography since 1967, when the separate category for black-and-white cinematography was eliminated.

Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman received the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Board of Governors Award for making significant contributions to advancing the art of filmmaking. Actresses Emily and Zooey Deschanel presented their father, Caleb Deschanel, with the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Lifetime Achievement Award. Lastly, Chris Menges (THE KILLING FIELDS, THE MISSION, THE BOXER) received the 2010 American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) International Award for his significant and enduring contributions to the international art of filmmaking.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
