Sarsgaard in Talks for GREEN LANTERN Villain
I am unabashedly a fan of Peter Sarsgaard. Every role the guy touches turns to gold, and I am particularly interested to see him play an out-and-out villain later this year in KNIGHT AND DAY. It doesn’t seem that will be the end of Sarsgaard’s villainous days, either. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is in talks to join Ryan Reynolds and play GREEN LANTERN villain Dr. Hector Hammond in the upcoming, Martin Campbell-directed adaptation.
In the original comics, Hammond was a career criminal who gains psychic powers after stumbling upon a meteor. In the new film, he will be the son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment to his father. Oh, Sarsgaard. You can never disappoint us, though. Can you?
With recent news coming out that GOSSIP GIRL star Blake Lively had been cast in the role of love interest Carol Ferris, it seems GREEN LANTERN is all but set to go in front of the cameras. It plans to do just that in New Orleans in March.
The film is set for release on June 17th, 2011.
