Golden Globe Nominations; UP IN THE AIR leads with 6
The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards nominations for film & television were announced earlier this morning at The Beverly Hilton by John Krasinski, Diane Kruger and Justin Timberlake. UP IN THE AIR led the pack with 6 nominations, followed by the musical NINE with 5, and AVATAR and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS were tied with 4 noms each. On a side note, the Best Director Category will have dueling ex-spouses. Kathryn Bigelow (THE HURT LOCKER) and James Cameron (AVATAR) were once married from 1989-1991. In the “Its About Damn Time” category, Martin Scorsese will be honored at Golden Globe Awards ceremony with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.” While the Red Carpet and the show itself are fun to watch, they’re not The Oscars. Some may think that the Golden Globes are an important precursor to the Academy Awards (they’ve matched up over the last 15 years), however the HFPA are made up of a bunch of critics and not AMPAS members. Hell, this group just left Jeremy Renner of THE HURT LOCKER off their list
