I hope, hope, hope that this new ROBIN HOOD film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe is as exciting and as bad-ass as a film directed by and starring the guy from GLADIATOR should be.   We’ve had plenty of these PG to PG-13 versions of ROBIN HOOD stealing from the rich to feed the poor.   I want this thing to be bloody.

Judging by these first, official shots from the film (as well as a couple of behind-the-scenes shots), courtesy of Courier Mail, we might not be getting that.   There’s a lot of horses, a lot of mud being flung, and a whole lot of nothing getting severed from the human body.   Nonetheless, I am holding out hope for the best.   It’s been a long time since Scott wowed me, and it’s been even longer for Crowe.   Here’s hoping for the best.

ROBIN HOOD is set to do some bloodless battle on May 14th, 2010.
