Twisted Pictures Take on TEXAS CHAINSAW Franchise
Sometimes a production company just can’t get enough saws under its belt. Take Twisted Pictures, for instance. Not only do they have a new entry into the SAW franchise every next to last weekend in October, now, according to Variety, they are scooping up the saws deep in the heart of the South. The production company is close to closing a deal to partner with Lionsgate to take on the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise.
The idea is to bring the franchise up to date with…wait for it…you guessed it…3D technology. The plan right now is to have THE GRUDGE screenwriter Stephen Susco to work on the script with Carl Mazzocone, Mark Burg, and Oren Koules serving as producers. The deals set in place with Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes were for a per-pic basis with rights-holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel. Henkel co-wrote the original, 1974 TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE with Tobe Hooper. Twisted is setting a multiple-pictures deal for the rights.
No dates production or release dates have been announced yet.
